Mental health

I'm going o explain something personal: 10 years ago, after give birth and enjoy (if it can him say "enjoy") of the drop by motherhood, I returned to the work immediately after it finalised the accumulation of the permission of breastfeeding. I returned with my breast pump automatic in hand, and each two hours, I shut me in the bathroom to extract me milk. My day in day out was the same that when it was not pregnant, that is to say, "the sky is the limit" (without hour of exit, availability 24/7, etc). Where himself had produced a change was in my interior. The look to the people (my mates) had changed, and I was more open and avid for listening to what occurred them, further of the work. And already it knows , if you listen, all your reality changes.

Such was so a day, when finalising one of these weekly meetings in which they ventilate subjects with direction, my upper said me "do not know what has happened him, but more than a Director of RRHH, now seems more one social assistant". Bang of reality.

mental health

According to the World-wide Organisation of the health, the mental health is a state of mental welfare that allows to the people face up to the moments of stress of the life, develop all his skills, can learn and work properly and contribute to the improvement of its community.

The mental health includes our emotional welfare, psychological and social. It affects the form in that we think, feel and act when we confront the life, and is important to take care it and preserve it in all the stages of the same.

In the labour field also is necessary to take care the mental health of the teams. I know that it is a subject that each has to work, but splitting of the base that of average happen 30% of our life working, the labour surroundings is one of the main stages that determine the emotional welfare. And it is that, as they signal several studies, 40% of the emotional problems has his origin in the work.

The fault of balance between the personal and professional field, the increase of the stress or the low motivation are some of the most palpable consequences of a bad emotional health in the work; something that affects to practically the half of the employees.

And if you are of which still says "Good, this happens me in the work, but luckily arrives the weekend and can disconnect" or "Each morning costs me the life raise me and only to think in what it expects me, depress me", to which waits to do self-analysis?

However much we think we have the super power to be one person at work and another in the personal sphere, we are one and indissoluble. The various spheres of our life act as communicating vessels of positive, but also negative influences. To what extent are you aware of it?

It is more, until which point there is consciousness of this and does something from the people with power of decision and influence inside the organisations? I know that it can be as a "hot potato", that goes of table in table because it is delicate to go in and perhaps never finish implementing something to the taste of all. The important is to take co-responsibility and action. Each person has to be conscious of what has between hands, to evaluate his own health and ask the pertinent help to find this welfare that needs, open to know , sort out and find a balance. But the organisations have to be conscious that they are alive, that they integrate it people whose lives are not neither linear neither extraneous to his circumstances and the ones of the society.

To measure that go growing professionally, go accumulating a brutal experience. Educated in the culture of the effort and of the sacrifice, would be logical to think that since it has cost me so much arrive where am, now touches them to the others suffer and sacrifice by his work, if it is that they want to arrive far. Seriously we follow perpetuating this paradigm? I want in this point remember something that the fans of Marvel will recognise: "A big can comports a big responsibility" (Stan Lee).

Fortunately there is not reason to be pessimistic of the all, since we know that there are organisations in the sector beauty that are taking action and that are treating to support to his teams in the improvement of his mental health. We find already platforms of digital health and welfare, directories put to disposal of the people with access to the best doctors, psychologists or nutritionists, implantation of an open corporate culture that invites to speak openly of mental health, internal trainings in subjects like the physical health, nutritional, emotional, social and financial, for quoting some examples.

What seem you these proposals? What are doing you in this regard? What is doing your company something in this regard?
