The Argentine consumer also shows an increasingly conscious and demanding behavior: they prioritize products that combine utility with visible value, multifunctional formats, clarity in ingredients, and accessible premium lines.The phenomenon is not exclusive to the country. According to an ICEX report, the Latin American beauty market will reach 72.45 billion dollars in 2032, driven by the growth of the middle class, the increase in disposable income, and greater digital penetration. Argentina, along with Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile, leads online beauty consumption in the region, and the categories that grew the most in 2025 across Latin America were skin care, fragrances, hair care, professional beauty, technobeauty, and makeup.The boom is not new: already in 2022, Latin America led sales growth in the sector worldwide, with an increase of 42% compared to 15% in the United States or 17% in Europe, and Argentina was the country with the largest increase in the entire region, a 55% that translated into a national turnover of 560 billion pesos. This impulse also has a precedent linked to the pandemic: since 2020, the production of detergents, soaps, and personal hygiene products grew, first due to sanitary measures and then due to the rise of self-skin care as an established consumption habit.Mercado Libre, the great showcase of Argentine beauty If there is one platform that concentrates the pulse of cosmetic consumption in the country, it is Mercado Libre, which has more than 2,210 official stores spread across Latin America. In Argentina, a study published in 2025 registered more than 1.2 million beauty products sold on the platform during 2024, with Sky High mascara as the best-selling product of the year. Production is concentrated mainly in Buenos Aires, CABA, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Mendoza and San Luis, and the sector employs almost 30,000 registered workers, representing 0.5% of the country's total private employment and 2.5% of industrial employment. Research has its own institutional engine in the Argentine Association of Cosmetic Chemists (AAQC), which promotes the development of new production technologies, the optimization of formulas and the evaluation of product safety and efficacy, increasingly relying on biotechnological, natural and sustainable active ingredients. Natural rules: from rosehip to yerba mate The Argentine consumer has evolved and strongly shifted towards natural cosmetics. According to Google Trends, searches related to this segment have grown by more than 130% in the last year, a leap that is reflected in the prominence of ingredients highly identified with local culture: Rosehip oil, valued for its regenerating and healing properties. Yerba mate, rich in antioxidants and increasingly used in creams and tonics, leaving aside the idea that it can only be infused. Chamomile, calming and anti-inflammatory, an ingredient especially used for sensitive skin. Olive oil, nourishing and protective, common in soaps and hair treatments. Aloe vera, which continues to be one of the country's favorites, especially in gel format, due to its soothing effect and its versatility against different skin problems. Added to this list is a growing concern for sun protection and for products with organic certification, in line with an increasingly informed demand. Hair loss, along with skin problems in general, continues to be one of the most latent concerns among Argentine consumers and the rest of Latin America. Popular brands in the Argentine cosmetic market Dermaglós: An undisputed classic in the country. It is the flagship brand of Laboratorios Andrómaco. It stands out for its moisturizing creams, emulsions and sunscreens ideal for sensitive skin. In addition, Enzo Fernández, a player for the Argentine national team, has recently become an ambassador and image for the brand. Eximia: Developed by Laboratorios Roemmers, it aims for high-end dermocosmetics.
