Bordas continues its commitment to sustainability and scores a new green milestone. The company, which has more than a hundred years of history, has managed to reduce its carbon footprint at the plant located in Plaza de Dos Hermanas, in Seville. This achievement has been made possible thanks to the expansion of the installation of the solar photovoltaic system on its roof and parking area.

This extension of solar panels allows Bordar to increase the number of renewable energy sources for its different product lines for the perfumery, food and beverage, pet care, farm animal production, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.

The 5300 m2 solar installation generates 15-25% of its energy needs and produces 1034 MWh each year.

Bordas' strategic sustainability framework aims for a 50% reduction in carbon emissions and the use of 60-70% renewable electricity. To achieve this, it is based on five fundamental pillars: sustainable development, commitment to energy saving and efficiency, waste reduction, responsible consumption of materials and digital transformation.

The company has stressed that it is proud of this new milestone and is committed to continuing to include sustainability in its roadmap with the aim of reducing its carbon footprint.

Some of the actions that Bordas has developed to be 'greener' include the installation of an economiser, which allows the sensible heat of the fumes and combustion products to be used, thereby achieving energy and fuel savings, and reducing the use of chemicals in water treatment. It has also incorporated the change of the exterior lighting from conventional to LED, thus achieving savings in energy consumption and a higher quality of lighting and less pollution.
