Global Fragrances Labs aligns its initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Agenda 2030

As a result of an exhaustive analysis carried out by the company, a total of 74 sustainable initiatives have been identified

In 2021, Global Fragances Labs joined the thousands of companies around the world committing to responsible business practices and contributing to the creation of a more sustainable world.

Founded in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. It currently has more than 13,000 member organisations in more than 160 countries and a total of 69 local networks. In Spain, more than 2,000 organisations have joined the initiative, making it the Local Network with the largest number of member organisations and, therefore, the most important in the world.

This year 2023, Global Fragance Labs makes public its alignment and scope with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Global Compact Agenda 2030. After a thorough analysis conducted by its own consultant, Cerveris Consulting, its multiple initiatives have been assessed and then categorised under the 17 SDGs. As a result of this analysis, 74 sustainable initiatives have been identified that have generated a total of 160 impacts related to the SDGs.
The company has explained to 'Next in Beauty' some of the initiatives being carried out. One of them has to do with the evolution of the carbon footprint. "It has reduced 93% of emissions between 2020 and 2022 thanks to moving to zero-emission electricity consumption, correcting and optimising the recharging of refrigerant gases and reducing the consumption of its own vehicles. We have also obtained the MITERD carbon footprint registration certificate, which reaffirms the company's commitment to sustainability", the company explained. The consumption of paper and plastic has also been reduced in the company's different procedures, for example in shipments. The material is now 100% recyclable and made of paper. The commitment to digitalisation has undoubtedly been really relevant in moving towards this type of more sustainable routines, acquiring and using new programmes and computer solutions that allow a way of working that is less dependent on physical documents and reduce the volume of paper printouts. 

Esther Góngora Cruz, Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability Department, has valued this change as something positive and that this set of actions improves the company's culture: "At GFL we decided some time ago to work on the sustainability strategy by focusing on more sustainable consumption, care for the environment and well-being in the workplace. We reflect all our involvement in our annual sustainability report, as well as our commitment to the 2030 agenda, the reduction of our carbon footprint and collaboration with various industry initiatives.  In addition to the latter, one of our top priorities is our employees; providing an optimal and comfortable working environment is fundamental to GFL."
