The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has ordered the withdrawal from the market and the cessation of the marketing of a moisturising cream due to the presence of substances that may be harmful to the health of the user.

The cream is Nuky Soft, and the affected batches are 211125, 211001 and 210726. The alert has been notified by the Pharmaceutical Control and Health Products Service of Catalonia.

The cosmetic product in question contains butylphenyl methypropional, an included substance in one of the annexes of the substances forbidden in cosmetic products in the European Union. It treats of a compound organic chemist that forms part of the aromatic aldehydes and has been a very resorted substance in the cosmetic sector, until it produced the prohibition of his use.

The cosmetic product in question contains butylphenyl methypropional, a substance included in one of the annexes of substances banned in cosmetic products in the European Union. It is an organic chemical compound which is part of the aromatic aldehydes and has been a widely used substance in the cosmetics sector until its use was banned.

This component, also known as Lilial, was banned in 2022 as it was considered a potential allergen that could cause skin sensitisation, but also as one of the carcinogenic, mutagenic and with effects on the reproductive system, as it could cause problems in the development and health of the foetus.

The AEMPS recommends that all users of this product cease its use and has asked distributors and establishments that have this product for sale to stop marketing it and to withdraw these products.

Last week, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products also ordered the withdrawal of around thirty batches of Gelàze China Glaze nail polish after discovering that two substances banned by the European Union were being used in this nail polish. These substances can be applied in beauty salons, but not for private use, as there is a considerable risk of sensitising the skin and damaging the feet, as well as causing allergies if not applied by a professional.
