Cosmetics and perfumery sales to grow by 7% in 2023

The study by Informa's DBK Sector Observatory suggests that sales in perfumery and cosmetics will rise to 7,160 million euros

Cosmetics and perfumery sales continue to increase in Spain and Portugal. This is set out in the forecasts contained in the study 'Perfumery and Cosmetics Sectors - Iberian Market' published in the DBK Informa Sector Observatory.

The same report shows that in 2022 the cosmetics and perfumery market in Spain grew by 10.5% in 2022, reaching 5,677 million euros. The figure in Portugal was slightly higher than in Spain, at 11.5%.

This year, the importance of the skincare segment, which accounted for 31.4% of global sales in Spain and Portugal in 2022, is expected to be reaffirmed. The same category was ahead of grooming products, with 23%, and perfumery, with 18.4%.

With these results, the DBK Sector Observatory, specifies that within the Iberian perfumery and cosmetics market, a total of 768 companies operated in 2022, and of these, 604 were located in Spain, and the rest in Portugal. Exports of products from Spain rose to 5,380 million euros in 2022.

The report analyses the skin care, grooming, perfumes and fragrances, hair care and decorative cosmetics segments. In addition to market development forecasts for Spain, Portugal and the Iberian market as a whole, the report also includes the opportunities and threats facing the sector, as well as the product portfolio and brands of the main companies.
