The beauty sector is experiencing a profound moment of transformation. And not only on the part of manufacturers and the most involved agents in the sector, but also by consumers. According to the latest data from Spate, the concept of longevity has ceased to be a niche to become the strategic axis that articulates new consumer demands: a transition from reactive treatment of the signs of the passage of time towards proactive and data-driven biological optimization.

For decades, the sector was governed by the term "anti-aging" and this was one of the claims that most boosted sales in products and was most demanded by consumers. However, the current market is experiencing what experts call the "Longevity Madness". In an environment saturated with neologisms and promises, longevity is defined today in a more rigorous way and increasingly accepted by the consumer: it is not just about living longer, but about maintaining biological function and integral health over time. This is precisely one of the 'drivers' as pointed out by Spate, where beauty and well-being emerge within the 'Health-First Era' and it is taken into account that the skin becomes the most visible organ that reflects people's state of health.

The engines that signal a global change

This shift towards longevity is not a fleeting trend; it is the result of deep demographic and technological forces. According to the Spate report, it is projected that by 2050 the global population over 60 years old will double, reaching 2.1 billion people, and furthermore 75% of consumers state that they want to extend their healthy life expectancy. This demographic reality has driven a market that already exceeds 15 billion dollars solely in the beauty sector. Today's consumer, more informed and demanding than ever, wants to know about science. And this access to the science of longevity has moved from laboratories and academic journals to being consumable and accessible today through podcasts and social media, democratizing knowledge about biohacking and prevention.

Longevity in beauty: long-term investment

Search data reflects a growing interest in concepts that go beyond the skin surface. “Age Management” has experienced a year-on-year growth of +142.7%. “Age Management” in the beauty sector is a comprehensive and preventive approach that seeks to age by accepting the passage of time and valuing skin health. Another point that is awakening interest is in the skin microbiome (+120.1%) and cellular senescence (+25.3%), a natural process by which skin cells stop dividing and regenerating, accumulating as 'zombie' cells  that do not die but damage surrounding tissues. This is followed by 'Positive Aging' and 'Skin Barrier' with a smaller percentage. 93

Within this category, three macro-trends stand out that are redefining the sector:

  1. Regeneration and protection: the interest in "Skin Barrier Repair" and peptide serums continues to rise, with a focus on skin resilience.

  2. Medical spa in citasa: the consumer seeks professional results in their own home. LED facial masks register a medium-high popularity with constant growth, despite initial skepticism about their real effectiveness compared to "before and after" photos.

  3. Skinification: The application of facial care ingredients to other categories, such as the scalp. The "Scalp Serum" is a clear example, with brands like Divi leading with growths of +165%.

The rise of wellness and biohacking

The border between beauty and health is increasingly diffuse because the consumer seeks to look healthy. In the field of wellness, "Biohacking" has exploded with a growth of +196% year-on-year. Here, 'biohacking', refers to the optimization of the body and mind through changes in lifestyle, nutrition, technology and biology, with the aim of maximizing health, longevity and physical/cognitive performance. The interest in the "Longevity Lifestyle", which seeks to maximize quality of life, has risen by +188.6%. Topics such as hormonal regulation and circadian rhythms are also positioned as fundamental pillars of this integral support system.

Specific ingredients and supplements also gain ground in digital conversations:

  • NAD: With a monthly popularity of 3.1 million and a growth of +428%.

  • Creatine and Resveratrol: Maintain sustained interest as allies for cellular and metabolic health.

  • Magnesium supplements: It has consolidated itself as one of the star supplements in the wellness sector due to its essential role in more than 300 metabolic reactions in the human body. It is valued for its effects on stress reduction, improved sleep quality, muscle support, and increased energy levels.

  • Fiber supplements: They seek to improve digestive health, regulate intestinal transit, combat constipation, promote microbiota, and increase the feeling of satiety for weight control.

  • Collagen supplements:  Collagen helps strengthen joints, bones, muscles and, of course, also the skin.
