Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients has added a new ingredient to its beauty segment portfolio: Savelite® HB. It is a multifunctional hydroxypolyester that can protect all types of cosmetic products for normal to sensitive skin. This launch from the German chemical company leverages an innovative technology that is harnessed to deliver key benefits to formulators and consumers.

Savelite® HB is a clear, colourless, odourless liquid that enhances product protection by acting against microorganisms and oxidation. As a cold processable ingredient, it allows for easy handling. This saves time and energy during production. Savelite® HB, which offers the functionality of patented ingredients, is based on well-established propanediol and benzoic acid molecules. With the introduction of this ingredient, 10 years after the launch of the revolutionary SymSave® H, Symrise expands its formulation tools.

While allowing the formulation of safer products, Savelite® HB acts as an effective moisturiser. In vivo corneometer tests show an increase of 10.9% after two weeks. It fully respects the cutaneous microbiome. In addition, it can help stabilise emulsions by reducing the size of oil droplets.

"Symrise has been leading innovations in cosmetic product protection for more than 30 years," says Sabrina Mizaël, Senior Global Product Manager Cosmetic Ingredients at Symrise. "Thanks to this new technology based on well-known ingredients, we are increasing the diversity of our product protection solutions. This allows us to support our customers in their formulation processes. In addition, we are helping to minimise our industry's impact on the environment."
