In collaboration with Dow and Essity, Mondi, global leader in matter of packaging and paper, have created a new and recyclable packaging secondary that has incorporated in the products of feminine hygiene of the mark Essity. They have achieved to reach the intention to reduce the use of virgins plastics and also reduce the footprint of carbon in the sector of the feminine intimate care.
Before, the compressed of Essity sold in a stock exchange that used 50% of reused material. But with Mondi, thanks to his line of investigation have obtained a new solution that agrees with the aims in matter of packaging of Essity, that is to reduce to the maximum the use of plastic and achieve a respectful packaging with the environment. This new packaging that is elaborated from renewable materials characterises for being product of the prime matter circulate and has the stamp of ISCC.
This packaging is composed also by plastic resin recycled from material of post-consumption. In this case, Dow collaborated with Mondi to find a formulation of suitable resin for this case, that finally, the final result has been a film that prints and turns into a stock exchange.
Marjo Kuisma, Regional Salts Consumer Flexible of Mondi, has recognised that: "The challenge was to find the best combination between recyclable and renewable matters that become in an effective product and kept the quality, in concordance with Essity. We have tested a lot of options until we have found the solution idonéa. We have gone back to the start to do the suitable questions to guarantee that we have created the best solution for our customers."
