BASF to build a neopentyl glycol plant in China

The company will look for to supply neopentyl glycol to scale world-wide and will do it from Zhanjiang

It will not go in in operation until the fourth quarter of 2025, but BASF, the chemical giant German already has announced that will invest part of his capital in the construction of a new plant that will centre in the supplyof neopentilgicol to scale world-wide. They estimate, that thanks to the plant the global capacity of production surpass the 330.000 tonnes annual, in front of the 255.000 current.

With this operation BASF will reinforce his position like one of the main manufacturers of the NPG of the world, adding this new location of the plant, to the others existent locations in points of Germany, United States and China.

Vasilios Galanos, the vice-president senior of intermediate products of Pacific Asia , explained that it expects that this new plant help them to improve the competitive advantage with regard to the competition: "Invest in a plant of NPG in the place of Zhanjiang Verbund will allow us back the increasing demand of the customers in Asia, particularly in the field of the coatings in dust in China. Taking advantage of the synergies that arise of our exclusive model Verbund and our technologies of first level, trust that our investment in the plant of NPG will improve our competitive advantage mainly in China, the chemical market bigger of the world".
