Symrise has achieved double recognition at the BSB Environment Awards 2023 by winning first place in both the "Processes" and "Functionals and Recipients" categories. The SymFrequency® collection, with apple and pomegranate ingredients, was the jury's choice for this award. The jury members highlighted its sustainable extraction technology and its positive environmental impact. In addition, the Upcycled Oils collection, which includes apple, elderberry and papaya oil, stood out for its innovative use of by-products and its sustainable sourcing.

The BSB Environment Awards recognise pioneering solutions that have a positive impact on the environment. This year, the jury recognised two Symrise product collections. This recognition highlights Symrise's dedication to creating eco-friendly cosmetic ingredients for beauty and personal care products.

In the "Process" category, Cosmetic Company's SymFrequency® collection, which includes Actipone® Apple Hyper GW and Actipone® Pomegranate Hyper GW, took home the coveted first place at the BSB Environmental Awards. The jury praised this collection for its sophisticated extraction technology. It minimises extraction time and reduces energy consumption, while achieving a high content of valuable substances. The key ingredients, Actipone® Apple Hyper GW and Actipone® Pomegranate Hyper GW, from France, have antioxidant, soothing, brightening and moisturising properties. Symrise has conducted in vitro tests in which both ingredients have been shown to be Ecocert approved and COSMOS compliant.

In the "Functional and Target Audience" category, Symrise's Upcycled Oils collection, consisting of Apple Oil CA, Elderberry Oil CA and Papaya Oil CA, also won first place at the BSB Environment Award. This collection follows the trend of upcycling, using by-products from the food industry to create sustainable and effective cosmetic ingredients. The oils, based on plant materials grown in Poland and the Philippines, offer sensory benefits as well as antioxidant, moisturising and healthy hair support properties.

"We are proud that the BSB Environmental Awards have recognised Symrise twice this year. These awards reflect our continued dedication to sustainability, innovation and customer satisfaction," says Marcus Hoeflich, Global Category Director, Botanicals, Symrise. "We are committed to supporting our customers in the cosmetics industry in the development of environmentally responsible, effective green beauty ingredients that consumers can enjoy at the same time."
