L'Oréal Groupe announced last week the creation of an exclusive partnership with Cosmo International Fragrances. The aim of this partnership between the two companies is to develop an extraction process based on Green Sciences to revolutionise the art of creating fine fragrances. This process has been created by Cosmo International Fragrances and is now available exclusively to L'Oréal. The technology, which is still at a patent-pending stage, is a slow, waterless, low-energy extraction process that reveals the exact scent of an ingredient while preserving its integrity. This Green Sciences process offers authenticity, opens the door to new olfactory frontiers and expands the manufacturer's fragrance library to include 100% natural and pure extracts.

"We are delighted to partner with Cosmo International Fragrances and demonstrate the power of open innovation 'from field to fragrance' while delivering on our L'Oréal for the Future sustainability commitments. Through this Green Sciences extraction process, we can experience the olfactory power of flowers in an authentic way, as if we were walking through a garden, a field or a forest," said Barbara Lavernos, Deputy CEO in charge of Research, Innovation and Technology at L'Oréal in the French group's press release. "With more than 100 in-house fragrance experts working at the Groupe, this exclusive partnership brings together a tour de force of perfumery anchored at its very heart."

L'Oréal Groupe and Cosmo International Fragrances share a common vision of creating fine fragrances using innovative and sustainable methods that enhance natural ingredients while limiting environmental impact. Using only air, the extraction technology harnesses the volatile fragrance molecules of flowers, fruits and other natural ingredients without the need for heating, cooling or chemical solvents used in conventional fragrance extraction. The flowers retain their integrity and, at the end of the process, can be recycled and reused in a second extraction, helping to reduce waste.

"We are very happy to work with L'Oréal like our first partner, since they are in an only position to carry the transformative power of the Green Sciences to the art of the perfumery on a large scale", said Marc Blaison, President of Cosmo International Fragrances. "Together, our experience combined in fine scents and our commitment with the planet will offer creations of only perfumes, elaborated of conscious form and exquisitamente executed to the connoisseurs of scents of all the world."
