The European Commission has published a project of amendment that will establish a requirement of additional labeling for some 56 allergens of scents, according to a report that has published 'Chemical Watch'.
The new substances include synthetic aromas menthol, terpineol, linalyl acetate, camphor, vanillan and geraniol. Inside this list, include also natural essential oils like ylang ylang, cinnamon and lavender. The legislation, still like this, allows a period of transition of three years and five years to begin to withdraw of the market the no satisfied products. This draft expects to be approved in the first semester of the next year 2023.
The project of amendment is consequence of amendment of the CCSC of 2012 in which they identify these 56 allergens, that has checked that cause adverse reactions in the human beings. The CCSC of 2012, included in his text the general prohibition in the toys of fifty-five scents allergenic so as to protect to the boys in front of the allergies that these scents can cause if they use in the toys; as well as the general obligation to indicate, if they add to a toy, the names of eleven scents allergenic when the concentration of said scents exceed of 100 mg/kg in the toy or in his components, already was in a label hit, in the packaging or in a brochure attach.
