Sigillum Knowledge Solutions reinforces its commitment to artificial intelligence applied to regulatory compliance with two new milestones: SDS SIGTOOL and SIGIA-COSMETIC. Both projects have public funding, regional in the first case and state and European in the second. Their common objective is to streamline safety assessment in the cosmetic industry, without sacrificing rigor or traceability.
The safety of a cosmetic depends on the control of each of its raw materials. Reviewing the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) provided by suppliers is currently one of the biggest bottlenecks for manufacturers and formulators. Added to this is the preparation of the Product Information File (PIF), which requires time and perfectly traceable documentation. The two projects address this problem at different links in the same chain.
SDS SIGTOOL: safety data sheets, under control
The first project has been selected in the IA360-2026 program of the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE), of the Xunta de Galicia. This line of aid supports the development of AI-based technology to improve industrial processes and commercialize new products and services. SDS SIGTOOL (ref. IG408M-2026-000-000065) has a budget of €227,994.46, with an aid intensity of 60%, and will be developed over 14.5 months.
Its goal is to create AI-based technological services to automatically evaluate regulatory compliance and efficiently generate safety data sheets for chemical products. Specifically, it will allow:
- Extract data from ingredient SDSs. It will process supplier documentation to obtain, in a structured way, toxicological profiles, hazard classification (GHS/CLP), and the detailed composition of each raw material.
- Evaluate compliance in real time. It will instantly cross-reference substances and raw materials with current legislation and with restriction or prohibition lists.
- Generate SDSs automatically. It will standardize and accelerate the drafting of data sheets for ingredients and chemical mixtures.
- Integrate with the cosmetic chain. It will guarantee the reliability of the input data that subsequently feeds the PIF and the safety assessment of the marketed product.
SIGIA-COSMETIC: from data sheet to file, with non-generative AI
The second project advances one more step in the chain. SIGIA-COSMETIC is a beneficiary of the 2025 call for aid (C003/25-ED CV6) from Red.es, aimed at R&D projects in artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies, and their integration into value chains. It receives a grant of €303,562.49, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The overall budget exceeds half a million euros and the execution period is 18 months (ref. 2025/0325/00285771).
The project will develop a SaaS prototype for safety evaluation and advanced document management. Unlike conventional document tools, the SIGIA platform combines non-generative AI engines with NER (named entity recognition) models. With them, it seeks to:
- Automate the extraction of technical data from documentation and supplier datasheets.
- Intelligently validate regulation. It will automatically and assisted check ingredients and formulas against international regulations.
- Evaluate the toxicological and legal requirements of each formula. It will assign objective confidence levels and always leave the final validation in the hands of the human evaluator.
- Generate the EIP/PIF. It will drastically reduce preparation times, with complete traceability to the source document.
The solution addresses the needs of the entire cosmetic ecosystem, with multi-organization architecture, data isolation, and permission hierarchies adapted to both brands and manufacturers.
Rigor and traceability as a common denominator
"A safe cosmetic product is born in the impeccable selection and validation of its ingredients. With SDS SIGTOOL, we apply Artificial Intelligence to simplify and provide maximum precision to the management of Safety Data Sheets, reducing validation times and ensuring total risk control from raw material to final product," explain the management of Sigillum.
The company also underlines the impact of the evaluation on the business: "In the cosmetic sector, the difference between right and wrong has real consequences on consumer safety and legal compliance, with a great impact on business and sales. With SIGIA-COSMETIC we want to provide safety evaluators and brands with a tool capable of enhancing their regulatory knowledge without losing rigor or traceability, drastically reducing evaluation time".
With the backing of IGAPE, Red.es and FEDER funds, Sigillum reaffirms its position at the crossroads of artificial intelligence, technical knowledge and regulatory compliance. In addition, it lays the foundations for a scalable technological engine for other sectors with high regulatory demands.
