The European Commission has presented a draft proposal to limit the presence of retinol in cosmetic product formulations. In this document, it is proposed that the maximum concentration of retinoids should not exceed 0.3% in products intended for facial care, whether rinse-off or leave-on, and 0.05% in body care.

From a skilled account in regulation, 'thecosmeticregulator', states that this draft is still subject to future modifications for 60 days, so there is nothing firm at the moment.  This measure, as indicated by the same account, has a transition period until the measure comes into force of up to 18 months to stop production in the quantities previously established and up to 36 months until the end of stocks, even if some of the references begin to be replaced in accordance with the new legislation.

Retinol acting on skin texture, pore tightening, photoaging and fine wrinkles has always generated some controversy about its use and the right amount.
