El Hogar San José de la Montaña and the Asociación Atrapasueños will receive a total of 10,400 euros this year as part of Zschimmer & Schwarz's international donation program. Both initiatives have been proposed by employees of the company's Spanish subsidiary located in Vila-real.
This initiative, launched in 2019 to mark the group's 125th anniversary, is held every two years and allows employees to propose social entities in their environment to apply for these grants. Since then, the program has supported projects related to social welfare, education, and the environment. In the previous edition, 39 initiatives in Europe, Asia, and America were supported, with an investment of close to 350,000 euros.
Among the projects selected this year is that of the Hogar San José de la Montaña presented by Carlos Vivas, global director of Zschimmer & Schwarz's Performance Chemicals division. The organization will receive 5,000 euros to renovate one of the dining rooms of this center, where children and adolescents who cannot grow up with their families live. The aid will be used to renovate one of the center's dining rooms to convert it into a more welcoming space for minors.
Carlos Vivas and Daniel Sardina, manager of Zschimmer & Schwarz Spain, recently visited the facilities to learn about the entity's work and the dining room that will be remodeled.
The second project has been promoted by Carmina Alfonso, Global Corporate Development Director of Zschimmer & Schwarz, and will receive a grant of 5,400 euros. The donation will go to the Asociación Atrapasueños, the first entity in the province of Castellón specialized in accompanying suicide survivors.
The contribution will finance for one year the psychological care of two grief groups for family members and their loved ones. The association was created by the parents of a young woman who committed suicide, together with the psychologist who accompanied them during the grieving process, after noting the lack of specific resources for those facing such a loss in the province.
In 2024, 56 people died by suicide in the province of Castellón. Atrapasueños was born precisely to offer psychological support and accompaniment to families going through this situation, in addition to developing prevention actions through talks in institutes and other training activities.
"This program reflects our way of understanding commitment to the environment. It is the employees themselves who propose the entities, and that allows us to support initiatives very close to them and to the reality they know," states Daniel Sardina, manager of Zschimmer & Schwarz Spain.
The two entities have been selected as part of an edition of the program that will once again support social initiatives proposed by Zschimmer & Schwarz employees in different countries where the group is present.
