The Beauty Cluster participated in EMPACK Madrid, one of the leading packaging fairs, moderating a round table dedicated to a key topic for the future of the sector: "Inclusive Packaging in cosmetics, perfumery and personal care: towards a more accessible and diverse beauty". The session, held in the Pentawards Room of Hall 8 of IFEMA, was moderated by Carles Solsona, Business Development Manager of the Beauty Cluster, and included the participation of Fernando de Gracia, Technical Director at Manantial Integra, Jordi Calduch CEO and Co-Founder of Sampling Innovations Europe, Silvia Sabater Sales Senior at Alglass and Vanja Gudelj Communication & PR at FOREO and Daniel Sánchez, Commercial Director of RAFESA and collaborator at the Aspanin Foundation.
During the meeting, participants reflected on how inclusive design can transform the consumer experience and open new avenues for innovation in the beauty sector. The speakers agreed that true inclusion begins with the design of the packaging itself, considering accessibility, diversity, and the representation of all people.
Jordi Calduch explained that Sampling Innovations Europe is working on the development of sachets adapted for people with physical limitations, such as injuries or malformations that make it difficult to use one hand, with the aim of improving user autonomy. From Rafesa, Daniel, representing a guardianship association, proposed incorporating pictograms on the packaging to facilitate its understanding among people with reading difficulties, such as symbols that identify hair or body products.
Silvia Sabater highlighted the importance of ergonomic design, with easy-to-open caps and bottles that improve grip, as well as opting for unisex packaging that breaks with traditional gender codes. For his part, Fernando de Gracia explained how the Manantial Integra Foundation promotes the labor inclusion of people with disabilities in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical sector, while also encouraging the adoption of inclusive criteria in the design of packaging.
From the international sphere, Vanja Gudelj presented the case of Foreo, a Swedish brand recognized for its focus on accessibility and usability, which integrates inclusion into its design and communication philosophy.
The debate concluded with an idea shared by all participants: the future of packaging lies in universal design, one that considers the needs of all people from its origin. Incorporating Braille or tactile reliefs, visual pictograms, neutral language, and ergonomic formats is presented as an essential step towards a more conscious, accessible, and diverse industry.
With this round table, the Beauty Cluster reinforces its commitment to responsible innovation and the construction of a truly inclusive beauty, where design is also a tool for equality.
