The BASF Group and the Institut Català d'Investigació Química (ICIQ-CERCA) have renewed their collaboration agreement until 2026 to promote training and innovation in chemical research of excellence.

The general director of BASF Spain, Carles Navarro, and the director of the dissemination entity, formalised this agreement yesterday at the headquarters of ICIQ Tarragona. With this agreement, both institutions aspire to "create a research ecosystem that fosters innovation and promotes positive changes in the chemical industry", as BASF points out in its press release.

The German chemical company will continue to support and encourage programmes and initiatives at ICIQ, including the BASF Seminar Programme, which has been running since 2004. This initiative is a testament to the strong collaboration, offering a series of specialised seminars aligned with ICIQ's main research areas. It is led by international experts and each session serves as a platform for sharing ideas and exploring the latest trends in chemistry.

Renewing this alliance also serves to promote, as stated by the chemical company, the third edition of the BASF-ICIQ Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, recognising innovation and talent in chemistry in the Iberian Peninsula.

"We are pleased to extend our collaboration with ICIQ, which has proven to be instrumental in driving innovation and excellence in chemical research," said Carles Navarro, general manager of BASF Española. "Through initiatives such as the BASF Seminar Programme, we want to foster emerging talent and encourage scientific career development."
