As published by the specialised media in economic information, 'Cinco Días', Spain has become the second largest exporter of perfume in the world. In 2022, Spain exported approximately 7,000 tonnes of aromatic essential oils to France, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. In addition, another 7,200 tonnes were exported to China, Brazil, France, Indonesia and India.

At a conference held by the National Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics, together with the Perfume Academy, some data were offered, such as the fact that Spain maintains its second position in the world in terms of perfume exports.

Thyme, rosemary and lavender are the three main aromatic plants grown in Spain, and are the queens of exports. Fennel and cypress also play a lesser role.

Spain leads the world in the production of rosemary and thyme, grown from April to November. Lemon essential oil has become one of this year's surprises. It is the second largest producer of Verna lemon in the world.

During the celebration of the day, it was also specified that the area dedicated to the cultivation of aromatic oils has increased by up to 35%, which is on the rise since 2018.
