The pharmaceutical company Laboratorios Viñas, specialized in dermatology, pediatrics, and general medicine, reinforces its international footprint with the consolidation of new distribution agreements in the European market. The firm has closed key alliances in France, Italy, and Turkey to commercialize its treatment for molluscum contagiosum, a dermatological condition with high prevalence in the child population.
For the execution of this expansion plan, the pharmaceutical company has had the support of ACCIÓ, the agency for business competitiveness of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat de Catalunya, through its Foreign Offices of Commerce and Investments in Paris, Milan, and Istanbul.
Boost in key markets and new launches
In the French market, the company has been operating for a year and a half with the local distributor Gilbert, after a relaunch process of the medical device. Under the commercial name Molusderm, the treatment has reached the second position in sales volume in France, with an annual distribution close to 70,000 units in the pharmacy channel.
In parallel, Laboratorios Viñas has signed agreements with distributors Sunrise Pharma in Italy and Genoteck in Turkey. In both countries, where the product will be commercialized under the name Molusk (the same brand with which it operates in Spain), the treatment is currently in the registration and packaging adaptation phase, with a forecast of launch during the second half of 2026.
In the Spanish market, Laboratorios Viñas leads the category of this treatment with a market share of 80%. Diego Martínez, international sales director of the company, points out that "Molusk has acted as a gateway to be able to distribute more dermatology products in the future". The executive adds that they currently have agreements in 15 countries and work in more than 20 markets with the goal of maintaining this growth path during the coming years.
Global projection and focus on the dermatological business
Currently, exports represent close to 7% of Laboratorios Viñas' total business, with its main international markets being:
-
China: 30% of foreign sales.
-
Portugal: 20% of international business.
-
France: 20% of international business.
As part of its global expansion plan, the pharmaceutical company is in the negotiation phase to introduce Molusk in Germany and Poland, while also having initiated a market prospection in Brazil to evaluate the development potential of its dermatological portfolio in the Latin American region.
