Henkel inaugurates the expansion of its plant in Germany. The company specializing in personal care and cosmetics has recently inaugurated the expansion of its Düsseldorf plant in Germany. The investment has been 45 million euros and the company strengthens its European supply chain and will consolidate centralized storage capacity for laundry, cleaning and hair care products.
This new expansion of the high-bay warehouse integrates perfectly with the automated facilities that were already inaugurated in 2014. Henkel has thus inaugurated an integrated logistics center with an area of 24,000 square meters and becomes Henkel's largest consumer products warehouse in Europe.
Henkel CEO, Casten Knobel, explained that "Düsseldorf is our global headquarters and, at the same time, our second largest production and logistics center in the world. We continuously invest in these facilities, with an average of about 100 million euros annually. The new state-of-the-art warehouse, in which we have invested 45 million euros, represents an important step towards more efficient logistics structures in our consumer products business. Especially in our anniversary year, this investment is also a clear sign of our commitment to our Düsseldorf headquarters.”
Henkel consolidates in Düsseldorf five warehouses that were previously spread across Germany and the Benelux region, after the integration of its consumer goods businesses into a single business unit: Henkel Consumer Brands.
“The new high-bay warehouse is a key piece for our integration and lays the foundation for a more efficient, consolidated and sustainable customer supply,” says Wolfgang König, member of the Henkel Consumer Brands Management Board, adding that “in the future, our customers in Germany and the Benelux region will be able to order products from the entire range of consumer goods with a single order, a single delivery and a single invoice".
