Shiseido gets new launchment in India

According to Bloomberg news agency, Shiseido has launched its first make-up brand in India, after a decade-long drought. It is breaking this ten-year 'absenteeism' in the Indian market with the NARS Cosmetics line, which will be available at major local retailers and also at Sephora.

The Japanese giant has partnered with Indian retailer Shoppers Stop Ltd. Global SS Beauty Brands, which plans to open more than 14 shops in New Delhi and Mumbai this year, according to Shiseido's Asia Pacific region manager Nicole Tan. According to Nicole Tan, Indian consumers have a special interest in colour cosmetics. As reported by

'The Economic Times', Nicole Tan explained that Shiseido's plan is to pursue "a segment that targets the individuality-seeking consumer, especially in the high-end and prestige segments".

The Japanese cosmetics company announced this fact in a press release last February. The move is in line with the company's three-year strategic plan "SHIFT 2025 and Beyond". With it, Shiseido will shift to an offensive position under a new management structure and aims to secure further continued growth and move to a high profit structure through active investment, the company will establish a base for business in promising future markets as part of major initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.

Shiseido has re-emerged in the Indian market at the ideal time: the cosmetics market is forecast to grow by around 4.2% over the next five years due to the popularity of colour cosmetics.

The Japanese cosmetics giant first entered the Indian market in 2001 with a selection of selected products and premium brands.
