Croda has revealed new findings about one of its most emblematic ingredients: Prolevis, a vegetable protein known for its soothing properties for the skin, now emerges as a multifunctional active ingredient with high performance in hair formulations.

For more than a decade, Prolevis has been valued for its ability to soothe and protect the skin. However, recent research by Croda has highlighted its effectiveness in hair treatment, especially in controlling frizz and prolonging styling, even in high humidity conditions (up to 80%).

The data shows significant reductions in frizz, up to 40% in virgin type 2 hair and 25% in chemically treated type 1 hair, after its application. In addition, visual tests confirm its ability to maintain the shape and texture of the hair without stiffness or residue, a growing demand in clean & performance-driven formulations.

The action of Prolevis is based on its ability to form a protective and flexible film on the hair fiber, regulating water content and protecting the hair structure from environmental changes. All this without compromising the natural feel or the finish desired by the consumer.

With a 99% natural origin profile (ISO 16128), suitable for vegan formulas, free of phenoxyethanol, non-GMO and compliant with IECIC, REACH (EU and UK), Prolevis represents a solution aligned with the demands of the conscious consumer and the global personal care industry.

This relaunch positions Prolevis as a strategic ingredient in the development of innovative hair formulas that combine naturalness, effectiveness and high-level sensoriality.
