Hermès does not notice the slowdown in China and invoices more than 4,120 million in the first quarter

Sales in the perfumery and cosmetics area have fallen by 0.1%

The French luxury giant company closes its first quarter with an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period last year. This means a turnover of 4,129 million euros as reported by the company. 

Axel Dumas, the president of Hermès, explained that "in a complex economic and geopolitical context, the company is strengthening its fundamentals more than ever".

By geographic area, sales in France have grown by 14.2% to reach 357 million euros, while in the rest of Europe they stood at 501 million, up 12.%. In Japan, turnover was 421 million, up 17.9%, while in the rest of Asia it stood at 1,971 million, up 2.7%. In America, the company earned 695 million, up 13.3%, while in the rest of the world revenues reached 185 million, up 16.8%. 
Sales in Asia have been affected, although the group points out that they have grown in mainland China. 

By product category, Hermès has increased sales of its leather products by 11.4%, reaching 1,813 million euros, 'ready-to-wear' fashion and accessories accounted for revenues of 1,149 million, up 8.3%. The silk and textile division invoiced 256 million, up 5.6%, while sales of perfumes and cosmetics fell by 0.1% to 129 million. Its watch business area contracted by 9% to 151 million.
