Phoenix Flavors & Fragrances has announced the retirement of John Pascale, Master Perfumer, one of the most respected individuals in the fragrance industry for his great creativity. Pascale has dedicated more than five decades to the world of fragrances and the art of olfaction. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Perfumers (ASP) at the 2024 World Perfumery Congress in Geneva.
Regarding Pascale's impact on the sector, James Unrath, President of Phoenix Flavors & Fragrances, has shared his impressions since meeting him in the early days: "I've known John for over 20 years, since the idea of founding a company in 2005, and there was only one man on my mind, and that was John. Ascent Aromatics needed a perfumer who could do it all: creation, GC, chemistry, applications, and sales. Without John, Ascent would not have survived. John is a master of his craft and has passed that knowledge on to several exceptionally talented perfumers, all of whom are thriving. He is committed to preserving the art of perfumery for generations to come, putting his ego aside. John Pascale represents much more than words can say," explains Unrath.
Pascale's career at Phoenix Flavors & Fragrances is defined by her exceptional creativity, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a knack for mentoring emerging perfumers. Her formulations have graced numerous iconic products, spanning personal care, home fragrance, fine fragrance, and other categories. Pascale has been a member of the SP since May 1982 and has been part of the presidents' organization.
Alex Nunez, Vice President of Perfumery, shared: "John Pascale has been much more than a colleague; he has been a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration. His commitment to perfumery and his unwavering kindness have left a mark on the Phoenix team and the entire fragrance and flavor industry. While we will miss John's presence in the office, we are very happy for this new chapter in his life and wish him the best in his new adventures and family time."
