A leak at the Henkel plant located in the Catalan town of Montornés del Vallés put 40 company workers on alert. This Wednesday, the Chemical Sector External Emergency Plan of Catalonia (PLASEQCAT) was activated in phase 1, although no injuries or external impact on the plant have been reported, according to El Periódico de Catalunya.

The plant workers were evacuated by the company itself as part of its evacuation plan, but the Bombers and the Generalitat received the alert and moved to the facilities located in Montornés del Vallés in case their intervention was necessary and to assess the external situation. Finally, as the authorities informed the aforementioned media outlet, their external intervention was not necessary since Henkel technicians confirmed that the incident was under control and that there was no risk outside the industrial complex.

According to El Periódico, the leak occurred inside the factory and the product involved is still unknown. Civil Protection deactivated the PLASEQCAT alert after the emergency at the Henkel plant in Montornés del Vallés was declared over, and the progressive reincorporation of workers who were preventively evacuated was allowed.
