Cosmetorium, the leading trade fair for the cosmetic industry in Spain, has celebrated its tenth anniversary in style. On October 21 and 22, La Farga de L’Hospitalet gathered 3,261 professionals and more than 174 exhibitors who presented the latest innovations in active ingredients, formulation, technologies, machinery, packaging, and solutions for the sector. An edition marked by the technological and sustainable transformation that the industry is experiencing today, and which Cosmetorium has accompanied since its beginnings.

A decade of growth

Conceived by the Spanish Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SEQC) and organized together with Step Exhibitions, Cosmetorium was born in 2016 with the participation of 70 exhibitors and a clear vocation: to become the meeting point for cosmetic professionals in Spain. Ten editions later, the fair has more than doubled its exhibitor offering and multiplied its content program, consolidating itself as an essential event for professionals in the cosmetic industry in our country.

“Cosmetorium has been a driving force for the Spanish cosmetic industry: it has helped boost businesses, innovation, and knowledge among professionals,” highlights Sílvia Martínez, current Cosmetorium board member at SEQC.

A program with more than 70 activities

The program has been excellently received, with more than 70 activities including scientific conferences, TechFocus sessions, workshops, and the Innovatorium spaces. The high participation confirms the sector's interest in the topics addressed, among which longevity, sustainability and packaging circularity within the European regulatory framework, biotechnology, the application of AI to cosmetic development, and global market trends stood out.

Among the conferences of the scientific program, the presentations by two prestigious speakers stood out. Dr. Luís F. Santamaría-Babi, Professor of Translational Immunology at the University of Barcelona, analyzed the role of immunology in the understanding and treatment of atopic dermatitis. On the second day, Dr. Alfonso Valencia, ICREA Professor and Director of the Life Sciences Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), explored the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the health field with his presentation “Digital twins and AI agents in biomedicine”.

For its part, the Innovatorium zone consolidated itself as one of the most representative spaces of the fair's innovative spirit, with more than 30 proposals of ingredients and technologies that inspired formulators.

The Cosmetorium Awards get dressed up for a party

One of the most anticipated moments was the Cosmetorium Awards ceremony. Under the slogan "Fiesta 10, the anniversary formula: 10 years, 10 ingredients, a sensory celebration," this edition proposed the challenge of developing festive and minimalist formulas with a maximum of 10 ingredients.

The awarded formulas were:

  • First prize:  IQL - Industrial Química Lasem / Nissh with Rock & Glow. A lip gloss inspired by the shine, attitude, and glamour of rock. With a technology based on esters combined with high-reflection pearls and glitters for an optical volume and luminosity effect that brings that WOW effect to the lips.
  • Second prize: Copra with Golden Gala 10. Golden makeup remover gel with argan and squalane. It acts by lipid affinity, effectively solubilizing fixed pigments, waxes, etc. from high-coverage and long-lasting makeup.
  • Third prize: Comercial Química Massó S.A. with Instant Smooth Butter Veil SPF20

Face cream with a silky texture with a plant-based complex that acts as a natural alternative to silicone elastomers. It unifies tone, mattifies, protects, and instantly smooths the skin.

An anniversary looking to the future

Ten years after its first edition, Cosmetorium not only celebrates what has been achieved but is already looking to the next decade. This last edition is a milestone for the fair and a reflection of the good moment of a solid and innovative industry.

"Ten years later, Cosmetorium is a reflection of an industry that innovates, invests, and grows. We want to continue energizing it for the next ten years and highlight the talent and potential of the Spanish cosmetic industry," says Núria Sisto, president of SEQC.

The next event already has a date: Cosmetorium 2027 will be held on October 20 and 21 at La Farga de L’Hospitalet, in Barcelona.
